Kiwayu Safari Village is located on the Kenya mainland in the most remote coast of the Kiunga Marine Reserve about 30 miles north of Lamu Island, in a breathtakingly beautiful bay opposite Kiwayu Island.
Nestling amid the mainland dunes, the oasis of Kiwayu Safari Village lies to the north of a sheltered lagoon facing the island of Kiwayu. There are few places in our world, which can boast such total seclusion, visited only by fishermen, the dhow that still come to collect sweet water and the occasional sports fisherman in search of the magnificent marlin or sail fish.
How to get here
From Nairobi
A daily air service operates from Nairobi’s Wilson airport by Safarilink limited. The flight goes via Lamu. Private air charters can also be arranged. The flight is about 1 hour 50mins.
At the Kiwayu airstrip you will be met by our vehicles, which take you the short distance over the dunes to the Lodge.
If you fly into Lamu , with fly540.com or AirKenya , there is the option of a private air charter ( 15 minutes ) , a speed boat ( 1 hour 40 minutes ) or more romantically by dhow which will depending on the tides and wind may take 8 hours or more !
